413 BBQ started with a church youth group, a Trail Life troop, and a guy who had been cooking barbecue for close to thirty years and figured they might as well learn something useful while they were standing around the fire anyway.

Two years later there is a team. Isaiah trims. Jason runs the sides. DJ handles whatever the cook needs next, which is usually everything. Nobody has a permanent title, because at this stage everybody needs to be able to do everybody else's job at two in the morning when something goes sideways.

The adult's part is simple, and it is the whole point: teach it, then get out of the way.
